Association of Mountaineering Instructors
Women's Trad Festival is supported by AMI, the Association of Mountaineering Instructors. AMI will support the festival by providing professional advice and guidance and are supplying highly qualified mentors to uphold safety at the festival.
What is AMI?
AMI is the professional representative body for Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors, Summer and Winter. AMI instructors have a huge range of experience and expertise to help you increase your knowledge and safety in the hills and mountains. AMI instruction is a higher standard: both a higher standard of professionalism and a higher standard of teaching. Our members are experts in teaching you new skills, safely.
All fully qualified AMI members (those who have passed the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor qualification or Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor qualification) need to comply with the Association’s requirement to undertake CPD. Therefore, you know that by employing an AMI member you are employing a professional. Members also adhere to a code of conduct and there is a Professional Standards Policy.
Who is an AMI instructor?
All members of The Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) are experts in rock climbing and mountaineering and have in depth knowledge of mountain environments in the UK and further afield. Our members provide guided walking, scrambling and climbing courses throughout the UK and abroad, throughout the year. They can help you achieve your objective, however challenging or unique. Many members specialise in high level skills coaching and the delivery of National Governing Body Qualifications and Awards. Our members also have the skills and experience to work in specialist recreational and industrial sectors. They support climbing walls, high ropes courses, zip wire and high line courses, abseil events and so much more with their technical advice and expertise.
How can AMI help climbers and instructors after WTF?
Our members can provide support you with any walking, climbing and mountaineering ambitions you may have. However, our members are also providers and directors for Mountain Training Qualification courses so if you need support and additional training and preparation in your progress as an Instructor or Leader, come to one of our members. As the Professional Representative Body for Mountaineering Instructors, we provide comprehensive support for our Trainee members through specific trainee workshops and forums, insurance for qualifications held and access to trade/retail relationships and partnerships.
